Give him a chance, he is from Norn Irn. very touchy folk, they just can't help it, think of Gerry, Ian or Arlene, always easier to start a fight than be civil. Lived there for 60 years so I have some experience of it. I might have given similar advice if it had not seemed so obvious.

Hi Skip, there's a guy from near your part of the world Co Down I think, called James Harrison, on Facebook who just learned to sail with no books or courses, he's on Youtube as well.. i think his channel is: Skipper James Sigma 33
he is very down to earth, worth a look. and his accent, to a Brit, can blister the paint on the bulkhead
