The 5.5m weekender I have .. Polish Kormoran ... has twin drop keels that pivot ... you raise by pulling on two lines, ... they pass through two holes in transom and into guide tubes to the top rear end of the drop plates.
If they are not worked often - they stick and then you have to 'bang' the bunk sides which are the keel housings to get them to drop.

So I take my mate for quick spin up river in the Progress MoBo to look at some land he's thinking of buying with 120m riverbank. We return and after he's left - I decide to check the drop keels on the other boat. First keel OK ..... other keel is stuck - so 'bang bang bang' ... next I know - I am surrounded and being stung by a crazy horde of wasps ....

Then I notice they are coming out of the drop keel line hole !!

I jump onto pontoon to get away from them and soon they leave me along ... I've been hit back - stomach - arms .. but luckily not face.

Up to the house and a full bottle of Cobra Insecticide ........ open front vent of cabin ... good thorough burst in through there ...... then its flood the drop keel holes ..... upon which they start coming out but now the Cobra is doing its job and they are falling in the water .... fish having a party on them.

But believe me the shock of it !!
