The Eastern Canaries used to have a major sea salt export trade. There's only one working one left in Lanza further up the coast.
When the prom was 'regenerated' they fixed up a couple of the wind powered water pumps for show. The used to pump seawater up into big shallow lakes to evaporate the water. Something different on a new years day stroll.

There used to be a lot of salt production where I live…now the area is a bird sanctuary. The salt production in the Camargue is quite impressive

It's great on those rare moments without cloud to catch that. Once only I got the planet in the Arc of the moon. Was just after sunset in Tetouan, a Morroccan city. The mosques had just done their noisy bit, then there it was. Awesome.

The forecast was brilliant…so we got up with plans for a day on the water….but by this morning the forecast had changed to overcast and miserable…so we changed plans.
