My boat is still on land…my long list of jobs is almost complete….but finding a day that is suitable for craning in plus test driving…is getting difficult
I noticed in your blog you were in Cap d'Agde last year, are you still there and what did you think of it?This Saturday's looking pretty good.
Booked my annual lift/hold/drop for Saturday morning.
Just long enough to change the anodes and a quick pressure-wash.

It's on my list to visit
Thanks, likewise I've been told it should be possible to get a berth there and not expensive. Have you had any dealing with the Croix du Sud repair yard?Ah, the blog... updating it is on my to-do list.
We've now been in Cap d'Agde since last September.
Initially just for Winter whilst we tried to find a berth nearer to where we live.
We've now been offered a permanent berth and we've accepted.
Everywhere else we ran into 'waiting lists' which seemed somewhat vague as no-one could tell us where we ranked on that list.
It's an OK place.
Everything you need is here - sail loft, rigger, engineering workshop, electrics/electronics, fuel berth ...
From sort of April to September it's quite a lively place - lots of bars/restaurants to suit all tastes/wallets.
Would I visit if I was in the area: yes
Would I go out of my way to visit here: probably not

I've not been to Cap d'Agde before but was in Agde itself several years ago when we were on Canal du Midi. It struck me as a bit run down.
I'm looking at two properties, one in Pézenas and the other in Portiragnes and also a boat that is nearby. Will be staying with a friend in Guissan Plage, he has one of the Betty Blue stilt houses
Thanks, useful to know. I'm in Hyères at the moment having been at Fréjus this morning. Both beautiful but frighteningly expensive and with long waiting lists. Saw a couple of nice boats but not that leaped out and said 'buy me!'1. The will almost always find a nook are cranny to park your boat, though unlikely to offer you an annual contract till you've been with them for a bit.
2. Annual rates at Cap d'Agde are about 5-10% cheaper than other marinas in the area. Visitor rates on a par with the others in the area. Visitor rates in July/August in the Med will cost you an arm and a leg.
3. Cap d'Agde bit nicer than Agde - especially around the harbour & seafront. The rich and famous won't exactly flock there, but not bad. Think a slightly more upmarket version of Blackpool/Margate.
4. Not yet called on Croix du Sud. According to my neighbours, they're the go to place for anything mechanical. Slight caveat: professional/competent outfit, but they do seem to prioritise 'big ticket' customers. Smaller jobs (like engine service): expect them when you see them. But like I said, no first-hand experience.

Likewise property here much more expensive than in Herault
Found a really lovely one in Olonzac which is near were we picked up our hire boat last time I was here. It’s a bit too far from ports I think, maybe not, going to have a look. When we were looking to buy a property we quickly abandoned any notion of buying in Provence.
Bar a Euromillions win, not a realistic option.
We looked at the coastal departments of Occitanie (Gard, Herault, Aude and Pyrenees-Orientales).
You will get the most for your money in l'Aude.
That looks like La Napoule
Indeed it is. Boat hunting in the posh end of France at the moment, Antibes this afternoon, Saint Jean-Cap-Ferrat tomorrow then down to the cheaper end on Friday and the weekend. That looks like La Napoule
