Seriously Ellie, I don't know if it's been suggested before but how about getting the military involved ?

The Royal Engineers love a challenge, it would be good PR for them and helping out a damsel in distress should appeal to them...I wonder if a bridge laying tank would prove helpful for a start ?

Not joking.

Good idea that might have worked 25 years ago, but i very much doubt it now days. Its worth asking but i'm pretty sure even the military would need to hire a crane for a job this size.If you don't ask,you don't get.

Around in circles again, this was suggested pages ago. I think you will find the army are a little busy to be wasting tax payers money lifting boats

So now you're suggesting that the taxpayers should pay to lift people's boats into the water.
Great idea! I'm first in the queue.

Exactly; worth asking...Ellie, whatever you do if taking up this idea try to approach the Royal Engineers direct, any Army PR dept would kill the idea without considering it.

They would probably break the wall and all the boats either side it becuase they didnt have a ground survey.

Most of us already have arrangements in hand, but I don't see why they shouldn't help with a one-off special like this which would be a win for all involved; or would you prefer our taxpayer funded kit to sit around and gently rust ?

It would cost the tax payer less if they just let it sit around and rust. At the moment they take it all to foreign lands and then leave most of it behind.

+1

And even if it were approved as "work of value to the community" and "of training value", you still have this issue to contend with:

"Sponsor. The task must be conducted on behalf of a sponsor, who
agrees to appropriate financial, liability insurance and health and safety
provisions for the task."

Not joking .? you should be . Before you propose that the tax payers pay for her cock up refer your suggestion to the marina . I expect they could do with a laugh . BTW I'm not joking .

New Idea Alert!

Call the Fire Brigade and tell them there is a kitten stuck under the keel. They'll lift it with air bags and then just nudge it to send it splashing into the dock basin.

I am concerned that this 84 page 830 post, 87,000 view thread about launch problems is over shadowing my own impending crisis.

I would just like to say that I am completely unconcerned about the state of the Quay where Harmony has been stored for many, many weeks.

I have no idea how much she weighs although I know that it is some-where between three and four tonnes.

can I find a crane that can cope?

can I get insurance for this operation?

Does anyone know of any occasions when Centaurs have been lifted with a crane without breaking up?

What colour crane would be best for this sort of operation?

Could I ask the army to stand by to help?

is this health and safety gone mad?
