My new project... MFV Elizmor

Hardly that, and it got worse when the original poster gave up trying to deal with it. Who could blame her?

The critical comments - save a few on "sponsorship" - only started after Preston Marina put their side of the story and the OP conspicuously failed to reply. Perhaps that's choice, perhaps it's force majeure but in neither case would it seem to be a response to the comments.

Furthermore, she has stopped posting anything anywhere, website, blog, twitter and reddit, since Preston Marina put their case. Even if the comments here prompted her to withdraw, why does she not continue the tale elsewhere, with more control over responses.

There was no need to pour scorn on some wretched woman who has done nothing worse than to get herself into a mess and then ask for help to get herself out of it.

And nobody did, until she went silent. Even now, I sense exasperation more than obloquy.

I must admit I've not been sleeping well recently and, lying awake in the early hours, my mind has turned to the OP's original launching problem. Hours of idle musing have paid dividends, and I can now make a positive suggestion. Why not put the boat on a low-loader and drive it away from Preston?
.

Genius. I salute you.

It occurred to me she has an entirely different experience of life than mine as a grizzled, bearded, 6 foot 5 man. Maybe Ellie has disappeared in shock that people can be mean? I have since noticed that I too am the kind of man that flashes out (note the 'out') certain types of people more often than others, so wish the OP success in her venture and the rest of you can b****r off.

Perhaps she is discovering that the charm and chutzpah which work when you are 15 don't work as well ten years later?

The good thing, we should all remember, is that this problem has a known and trivial, if expensive solution. If she has managed to rustle together £30 - 40K for purchase, work so far and some of the lift (Good on her. At that age I owned a bicycle.) then even another five grand for the lift can't be impossible. And she wouldn't have wanted to be afloat for the last six weeks anyway.

Funny, isn't it, that it's generally us oldies who take a relaxed view, and youth, with all the time in the world, which is in a hurry to Do It Now.

I must be on a different forum than you, I just read every post JE made on the thread and couldn't see the ones slagging off the marina or of her moaning. I'm sure there were many grumpy old gits doing these on her behalf but her own posts seem quite reasonable to me, and seem to match up with the marina response quite well.

Yes it must be Chinese whispers. I too read her posts and could not trace any criticism of preston Marina, only a disappointment in the delays of her launch. The criticism seemed top come from various posters who jumped to conclusions, hence I guess the reason PrestonMarina chose to post their own version of events.

It does seem a shame that Ellie has chosen not to return here or to update her website or blog. An opportunity missed I suspect.

Nobody is obliged to respond to what is posted on here. I can't understand the concept that this forum is some kind of Parliamentary Select Committee to which people are summoned to explain themselves, and to be insulted if the Committee doesn't think much of them.

Maybe Ellie is ill, maybe she's on holiday, maybe she has something more important to think about, maybe she's bored with it all. Who knows? I don't.

Anyway I'm bored with this thread so, whilst I am always happy to respond to personal insults on an individual basis, I have nothing more to say about the MFV Elizmor and her charming and vivacious owner.

Indeed. But neither can I understand the idea that if the OP disappears, other posters should stop posting.

I hope she has started talking to Preston Marina again, though. The last I saw from them was that they hadn't been able to get hold of her for two weeks.

That, basically, in perhaps not such a nice way, was what I said!

Indeed, perhaps people should have a slightly closer read of the last blog entry before speculating as to any disappearance.

I haven't read any of the previous posts. I was too involved in my own project. However my project has come to a grinding halt.
So, anyway. What's it all about then?

I do hope the problem with the dockside stability is not my fault. When I visited Preston some years ago I gave the dockside, by the fuel berth, a hefty clout when I made an error and my son decided he wouldn't bust a gut getting there with the fender.
