The OP bought a low-loader from the army, and planned to live on it. Unfortunately an insurance underwriter, despite being given an anchor, has refused to sanction the use of a 200t crane mounted on an old fishing boat and driven by Preston (the robot dog from "A Close Shave") to lift the low-loader onto a marine railway in Brighton. Or at least I think that's what has happened.

Jumble your post count averages 14 a day.. How's the trip prep for Ireland, your dinghy refurb, the dodgy gearbox, the I need a dinghy sail plea all going?

By my reckoning 14 posts , mostly on this verr thread, is a whole hour of your day, and that's only 4 minutes to read, peruse, scan, absorb, reflect and reply, Bon mot, schadenfreude or plain wit..
I is, in a sense , impressed. But caustic humour works much better amid like minded types in The Lounge, it is in part why it was created..

Trip prep for Ireland progresses slowly in the sense of "must get around to buying the S&W coast pilot book". Dinghy refurb is waiting till warmer weather, as GRP work will be involved. Gearbox awaiting recovery from a hand injury (no, not too much typing). And I thought I had arranged to buy an training Optimist sail, but the other party seems to have vanished. Thanks for asking.
 
Yes. It's the ones who don't see that a successful forum depends on people posting regularly and keeping topics alive. Posting at a rate of 0.08 posts per day doesn't really help in that respect, but does authorise them to decry those who they think are wasting their lives. (As though that aspect of someone else's life is anything to do with them).
 
I have only managed 528 posts in 11 years five months, I have done quite a bit of sailing in that time though.

I could not envisage how I could have something meaningful to contribute 10 or 15 times a day. It is usually a great forum though and I keep coming back to learn more at the feet of those who do have the ability to post more frequently than i can.

I wonder if he's being looked at by a therapist?
Do you think he may be shut in a little dark room somewhere and afraid to make face to face contact with others, afraid or incapable of forming real meaningful relationships.

Hardly called for. I don't think JD has been unpleasant to or about OP. He seems to take a slightly jaundiced view of her motives and her way of going about things but it's a perfectly valid point of view. I think he's contributed quite a lot to this thread.

Come on then - where's your evidence, I need times, date, witnesses, otherwise I am taking all of the credit.

Although in a thread this long I think the matrix theory kicks in- everything's happened before, there isn't anything new (and we are all living in an artificial reality being harvested by machines for their own nefarious purposes. If that's true maybe she could seek the assistance of an agent?).

And as a final thought I have the utmost respect for anyone who can a) work into a sentence and b) spell the word chutzpah. I thought this was the sound one made when shutting one's genitals in a particularly thick book ( para phrase Red Dwarf)

Plus, for one so 'media savvy' JE seems to have achieved a spectacular own goal.

Unless, of course, the importance/value/effectiveness of all this cyber crud has been hugely overrated and many of 'us' (if the cap fits.....) have been taken in by it.

+1. I agree with a lot of what Jumbley Ducky has said and don't think he has been unpleasant to her at all. Some on here think she is an entrepreneur and should be applauded for all of her achievements so far at a very young age. However if people bothered to look deeper you would see she is nothing more than a blagger.(I honestly am being light with that statement) Read her "Sponsor me for £5" part of this thread and search "Yacht scribble" and tell me i'm wrong. As i put earlier in this thread, if you agree with her methods of raising cash for nothing send me £5 so i can buy an Aston Martin.......i'll let you scribble on the underside if you wish but i cannot promise anything.
The only reason that boat isn't floating is because she hasn't found someone dumb enough to pay for it for her.......YET! :sleeping:
