No.The links are still there. The PBO link just needs removing, but it won't be because it has a lot of traffic associated with it.

I agree about the molly-codling of children. I cannot see how praising everything a kid does helps them to understand how life works.
If you watch any of the talent show audition programmes (the only bits worth watching) you see the "artistes" astonished and unable to compute it when they are told they are no good.
Also the audience boo any negative comments. I realise a bloke is holding up boards saying "BOO", but I think they get stuck in anyway.

Children an be well aware of this. Some years ago, when I was running a technical event for children, a lad whom I knew quite well brought me something he'd made and asked what I thought of it.

"It's rubbish and you can do much better" I said.

"I know" he said. "I just wanted to see if you'd give me honest feedback or if you'd be like the teachers at my school and praise anything. Here's the real one" and he brought out a much better version.

Oddly and sadly enough, most teachers to whom I have told this story think I was completely wrong and that I should have given precisely the uncritical praise which the boy didn't want. The problem is not all in the home.

Fortunately, my ex is Singaporean and they do not mince their words!

The lad had a maths test last week. He got 82%. Friends praised him. We did not.

We told him that in maths there are no grey areas, no subjectivity, the only reason he did not get 100% was that there was something he did not understand. He told us what he did not understand (fractions).

My ex taught him.

The next morning he got up 15 minutes early to practice his fractions before going to school.

Don't really care what anybody else thinks. This is not 'hot-housing' although it may appear insensitive; he can take a bit of criticism. I am happy with his attitude and I think he has now learned that he is not failure if he needs to ask for help.

You do realise it's not unheard of for tests to be near enough impossible to get 100% in. Imagine a class so well schooled they all got 100% - what has the test told you? That the test was too easy. You can only really look at the relative progress.

Perhaps people forget that a failing project can be as interesting as a successful one, it'd be just as interesting to hear how this has got so stuck as much as it would be to hear about everything going swimmingly.

Absolutely. However, telling the story of a project which went wrong requires both maturity and humility
.

Four points:

1. OP set the hounds on Preston Marina - if I recall correctly even Mr Duck had a moment of indignation against Preston, which the OP deliberately attempted to fan. Preston responded reasonably and managed to confuse and split the pack ...which promptly started to infight. I have a German Shepherd and a Rotty at home ...they act aggressively upon perceiving a threat ...when it's passed they too start fighting with each other!

2. With the hounds now wagging their tails at Preston, a cease and desist letter was almost certainly issued to the OP, making this website dangerous to navigate without having her hand held by a law firm.

3. Houseboats are dodgy for marinas as they can create residential "rights" for the occupier. I'll take a bet that the OP has been asked to stop using the vessel as a houseboat ...as any sane marina would do when the winds of litigation start to blow.

4. Almost exactly a month ago (and concurrent with Preston's response) a thread was started to raise money for the boat's launch ...it was shot down in flames.

Against this backdrop of barron fundraising lands and legal quagmire, why on earth would the commercially focused OP rationally choose to return?

Because if she was that good at social media she would understand that if she returned to this thread and and got it back on side, she could change her website that says "20,000 forum views" to "138,000" forum views making her far more attractive to potential "sponsors of her life style"

You are quite right. I did at one time believe that Preston Marina had behaved badly. I no longer do, and I feel a little embarrassed about it.

I wonder how Brighton Marina feel about it. Here's what their regulations say:

12. No Living Aboard Boats
12.1 No one is permitted to reside aboard a Boat in the Marina and Boats may not be used as houseboats. This restriction does not prevent residence aboard a Boat during a holiday. In any event, no one is permitted to reside aboard any Boat for more than forty days in any twelve month period unless with the express written permission of the Marina Manager. At no time should a Boat be hired out or rented to third parties for residential purposes.

That was pretty dodgy, yes. I wonder who was behind it?

I presume she's going to try to make money from us all again in the future. The longer she leaves it, the tougher it's going to be.

This is typical for most marinas. It just allows them to turf out scruffy liveaboards if they need to. Whether they choose to enforce is up to them.

It's about time the forum police closed down this thread. Its degenerated into rudeness and insults which is a country mile away from the reader to reader helpful advice which I for one have benefited over the years. Shame on you! (you know who you (plural) are).

On the other hand, potential sponsors might read the thread.

Brighton, alongside other marinas which turn a blind eye to liveaboards, will hope to claim that they had no idea their rules were being broken. This defence is weakened if the practice gains widespread publicity.

Other liveaboards might think it extremely selfish of the OP to burn their collective nest in her quest for fame and fortune.

Really??...degenerated into rudeness and insults?? - I must be reading a different thread to you. It's reached 140-odd pages, so is clearly still of interest.
