My Homework! Any ideas?

I have a symbol, it's a plus sign with dots around it in a circle and a dot in each quarter of the plus sign. I've checked and checked in my "Symbols and abbreviations used on admiralty charts" book and I can't find it. Can anyone help?

There is a Blue Catalogue specially available via Adm Chart Agents with ALL chart symbols...... gives Buoy designations and interpretations as well.

The problem with the book is that you've go to know what you are looking for before you can find it

On the back of my Imray chart the key to symbols tells me that it is a "Rock awash at level chart datum".

I would try and steer a course around that symbol /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

The good folk at the Admiralty have got a stock of symbols that they haven't yet issued for use.

Ive been reliably informed that its planned for use in 2003. It will be used to mark the wreck of Careless Whisper. It was a famous episode. Some ne'er-do-wells from a web bulletin board hijacked this dark blue Moody 38, stripped it of goodies, and scuppered it on the Bramble Bank

If you mean a plus sign in a circle of dots but no dots between the quarters Underwater rock, over which depth is unknown.

Thanks for the offer! I've done most of it now, just got a couple of queries. 1. is still my plus sign with no circle of dots and a dot in each quarter. 2. Is what does S.Sh mean. Is it shoal?

Another good reason for using Imray charts (see an earlier thread) is their crib sheets on symols on the reverse of the charts.
