Hi all,

Not been around for a while, although I have been lurking for a bit. Main reason is that mother-in-law, a lovely lady, is now in the grip of dementia and increasing physical frailty, requiring a great deal of swmbo's time and energy.

Anyway, to cut a very long story short, we had the opportunity for a longish trip this summer, so with daughter (18) and friend in tow, we made it across the channel and up the Seine as far as Paris, whereupon we all got very ill. Haven't been able to pin it down to a particular meal or incident, but boys did we get it bad. I was sicker than a very sick sick thing from planet sick!

Upshot of this was that after three days of this the crew (and skipper) mutinied, and we got flights home.

So - I need a crew to get my boat back! If anybody fancies a few days easy cruising down the Seine and a quick blast accross the channel, then I will pay expenses/food/drink etc.

I was thinking about the back end of this coming week as a possibility, as I just want to get the boat back - even though after the last couple of weeks my enthusiasm is waning!

Sorry if this is a bit brief, but the longer version got chewed up in the posting process! Couldn't be bothered to give the details all over again - I'll keep that for a full blow by blow account to be posted later.

Wow, that's sick.

Would love to take up your offer, but I am a tad busy for the next few weeks.

I expect you will be inundated with offers, all with their own supplies of Imodium and fresh bottled water.

Sorry to hear that, Have done the Seine trip twice now and was severely sick the first time. Second time we wore disposable gloves in the locks and used antibacterial washes after each lock and was fine. I believe the filth in the locks is really bad. It might be worth doing this when you retrieve the boat, and washing your lines in a bleach solution when you get back to blighty.

Hope you have a good trip back. Those locks would be impossible/extremely difficult single handed
