so after a lot of looking round I decided on sept the 4th to buy a 23ft sun seeker
owner had it for 4 years and basically spray painted everything in sigh black , including all the amazing wood work GRRRRR

so I have decided to try to bring all the wood back as I think its teak , then modernise and refit all the interior

complete boat re wire

engine and out drive full service and inspection

new paint on the top and graphics

all new gauges , flooring and seating

re signed panel work, I had to replace a mirror out of a boat a few years ago. Written in the original mirror glue was "xxxxxxx is a w@nker" !

Saw this boat on eBay a few times and wondered why on earth someone would paint it all black, madness! Good to see it is in safe hands being brought back to life. I have a classic, well 1989 23ft boat almost fully restored over the years, keen to see how you get on. Blood, sweat and tears will be worth it, all the best.

what's the difference between a depth finder and a fish finder or are they the same thing ?

Depth finder is normally a digital number display…just says 2.5 metres for example

Fish finder has a display showing depth and contours of the seabed, possible fishies as below

so a fish finder is the better option to have , thank you . off shopping then again . also id like some sort of gps for inland waters to we dont get to lost , any recommendations please , thank s

Go for a combined plotter (map), depth / fish finder. Better than having multiple screens on a small boat.

Maybe a Simrad Cruise 7? Lots of options out there…depending on budget of course ?

ok so I pulled the outdrive off today as I found some corrosion

so is there a pic that shows water flow and its route through the leg please , the corrosion / hold may be in a water way or just a casing hole
once I know what im dealing with I can come up with a plan to repair it

There was a load of filler in a corrosion hole. It’s at the back of the outdrive base.
I can’t work out if anything passes through this area. I don’t think it does. It was full of greasy mud. Am I to assume no water passes this area. Just fo I can work out how best to repair it. Thanks. It’s a alpha 1 gen 1.

Alpha 1 Gen 2 manual but from what I understand….internally it’s the same as gen 1 except gen 2 has remote Outdrive fluid reservoir

So looking at the pic you sent. It should be full of oil at the back of the unit. ? Thank you very much.
