Mud in Watchet

I can't believe people are complaining about the noise, surely dredging only takes place in the day time when most folk are at work?
I see little point in a marina with no boats and am sure that the whole town would suffer if the marina were to cease to exist.
I hope things get sorted as we can't sit in/on mud and I miss our visits to Watchet.

Im sure its been though of but surely redesigning the outer harbour wall would help.At the moment its ideal for catching all the mud as it flows past. How about a venture design?

I was more shocked at the price of an overnight berth than the mud last time I went in!
Watchet always did seem expensive (their response was that power was included - whether you wanted it or not), but after six years away (and a bigger boat) it didn't seem any higher. Have they kept the prices flat since the mid-2000s I wonder? Perhaps general inflation makes it seem more acceptable now - or maybe it's the few years we've spent on the S.Coast!

Great long weekend at Watchet.Noise from mud kit no problem. All boats arriving had births that was afloat when gate open and did not dry out in mud.

From memory, when I first got my boat, which is 10m long, in September 2008, it was £22/night. This was the most I paid anywhere that year, including visits to Falmouth and Plymouth. The following year it had gone up to £26/night and along with others I stopped going. At some point it went down to £20/night and we started to go back, maybe not so often. It is now £22/night and I have only been when there is the BCYA discount.
A couple of weeks ago they had cleared most of the mud from the east wall to B pontoon. As said before, this is enough to ensure visitors can get out when the gate opens.

Thanks for that Ribdriver, I totally agree with you, Watchet are not the only ones, they are all as bad as each other! One gets away with it then they all follow!
Thankfully there are still plenty of places to go.
From memory;
Lydney - £5/night
Thornbury - Free
St Pierre - Free
Newport - Free
PCC - £5 but I've never heard of anyone paying.
Bristol harbour - £16/night
Minehead now £18/night
Burry port - £18/night
I understand the new place near Swansea will be £18/night too.
Cardiff yacht club - Free
Last year I spent 4 lovely days in the Milford Haven, I didn't pay for moorings and spent shedloads of money in the pubs and cafes etc. Some of these towns should take a leaf out of the French book, they see a marina as an asset to bring in visitors.
I'm off to The Scilley Isles on Friday, may go to Gweek too.

This is true but we need to be careful as someone else on here once said - can't remember who - not to compare commercial enterprises - which all the main marinas are against clubs and basic harbours. Minehead being the classic example - one tap, no electricity, no facilities to speak of etc. Not saying there is a right or wrong answer - just a difference and this is bound to be reflected in the price. After all, that's what business is about.

I guess it's a simple case of 'yer pays your money, yer makes yer choice!'

I have paid more than that for a muddy field with a touring caravan us yachties should stop moaning LOL 117pounds 1week in Swansea for 31ft Touring caravan cost in Cower 150 if you lucky Do not say this to the marines owners
