Today, the MSSA has launched a consumer attitudes survey designed to find out what the boating public think about various aspects of the marine industry.

The Survey is split into individual sections aimed at the various parts of the industry to establish what consumers are demanding in terms of their buying needs.
In addition the survey aims for establish the customer service levels experienced by the boating public.

The outcomes of the Survey will be available in the Spring of 2004 and will be a "must read" for any marine company looking to understand what the buying public expect of them.

The Results Report will only be available through the MSSA web site and will detail the public perceptions concerning ,Manufacturers of boats and water craft, Chandlers, Service Engineers and Warranties offered on new craft and engines.

Peter Davey, conceiver of the consumer organisation said " this is a great opportunity for all those that own and enjoy boats to put down what they feel about this industry."

He added "furthermore this is an equally good opportunity for the Marine Industry to listen and position itself in line with consumer thinking and expectations."

Well done, about time something was done to enable name and shame and praise for those that deserve it. I am sure that you will soon have a great data base that will do exactly what the consumer wants, knowledge of who and who is not delivering a service that is and should be expected from them, and to warn them of those confirmed as failing in that. Keep it up, it's nice to see some action being taken.

Ohi, come on now, that's uncalled for, I've tried to explain the position I'm coming from, one of balance and credibility. Being all eco terrorist get us nowhere.

If we are to try and change the way the industry acts towards consumers then we must be seen as understanding to the industries aims and be balanced in our expectations. It will take time and support, there is no quick fix.

As I have said before antagonistic action achieves nothing, it means we sink to the lowest level, which is what I have seen from some companies when they are criticised, they look to trade insults rather than see an opportunity for improvement.

Just filled in the survey and answered the chandlery questions with respect to going through the doors into cairo market where prices are made up to see when people laugh the loudest.

I think an extra section regarding online shopping would be handy, as that opens a whole new ball park, like taking your order, removing funds and then emailing to say they are out of stock for months. An online computer parts .com would last less time than it has taken me to write this with some of the practices I have come across.

One company thank god folded not that long ago, but told me I lied when I said the order was not complete. I called them up as someone else and was told they had not stocked that particular part for months. That is when the fun started.

Well I don't know about the other comments that have been deleted, but my post contained only documented fact. You deleted it because you came under pressure from Gibbs.

The antagonism is on their side.Did Gibbs deny the facts, or just threaten you. I've by pm offered to post an email directly from Regal, which no one can refute. Your suggestion by pm of letting people read between the lines is nonesense. If you can't state things that have happened, and instead have to make suggestions and innuendo then the whole concept is wasted

Thanks for taking the time to complete the survey. In respect of your suggestion, yes I could have added this section and will do when I repeat the survey next year. I was concerned at the length of the survey, as it stands it’s quite long but I’m pleased that it doesn’t take too long to compete.
