moving to the south of england

You may want to ask when their season starts and ends just to confirm that statement. I dont see how it can be that much longer than March through to November

It isn't.
Anytime before March you will freeze your n*ts off.
Anytime after November is rain going sideways, just like the rest of the UK.
It might be a bit warmer in Summer, if you are lucky.

So when we get back from the Far East we will be coming darn scarf to look at marinas , will I have to change my name to dave and like borris

hi jimmy we are thinking of moving the whole family ie so and daughter with partners as they can work anywhere in the uk ,and I am running away from work

I grew up in Alsager and Kidsgrove and moved down to Portsmouth in 1986. Been down here ever since, although o moved near Southampton in 1991. Happy to fill you in. Personally, I would never move back. I love it down here. Good for work, good for weather and good for boating.

Not sure why you would want to change your name unless you are Richard Head?

Funny you should say that as my mum wanted to zillion me primrose and my dad wanted to call me Richard , it they decided to use both and called me Pric

Roy, grass is always greener. Let me remind you how good you have it here:

Where you going to get all this down sarf then eh?

Well BK I notice that nearly all your pictures are a little south of Conwy. The sun is shining in all of them.....

I keep telling you there is a different weather pattern as soon as you pass through the Pen Y Clip tunnel!
We can usually see when its persisting down in Conwy and we are topping up our tans and nice and toasty in Pirates Cove!

I have had the benefit of sailing the South Coast for a number of years and yes we even escaped as far as Brittany to avoid the overpriced marinas, crowded anchorages, expensive Pubs, non stop radio checks, and Sunsail sorties from Lake Solent.

This summer in the Irish Sea was hard to beat. I don't think I had to wear any oilies until September and that included a trip to Southern Ireland. Just remember Summer is not July and August.

It is most usually May and June in the Irish Sea!

Nb that is a proper boat at the front of your sixth piccie!

Steve, be honest, the only reason you are sitting amongst the pirates of PD and not in the weather shadow of Sunny Conwy and it's superlative micro climate is because you are a yottie. Now I dont mean to scoff at those without proper boats but being underwhelmed by your zero to 3 knts time one can understand why you have to rub shoulders with those ruffians. In short you are forced to catch the ebbing tide out to Pirate's Cove and the flood back, and rarely go North because of the time it takes to cross the Swellies. On the other hand, having a proper boat affords one to choose where one can go if one is forced to chase the weather. Indeed, we can leave Conwy when you leave PD and still get to Pirates Cove first to establish squatter's rights. :p The fact that I dont do that often is purely out of charity and my good nature :D

Blue Note II at full chat. She's actually a lovely boat :encouragement:

Had a really nice sail today, 11 degrees 10 knots of wind occasional sunshine and a flat sea. It's not like that every day in the winter but we get enough of them.:)

We have had some miserable days leading up to Christmas, strangely enough it is quite balmy here tonight too.
