Its a Polish 'KORMORAN' 5.5m and was offered in motor boat or sail config.

Ventspils had 5 of them for the Marine School during late Soviet time. 4 disappeared when independence came - but I managed to snag one ... for 100 quid.

Its a dog to sail ... its leeway can easily match the fwd bit ! Has two steel plate hinged keels ....

Next once weather goes down - strong wind at present .. I will rig mast and Xmas lights ...

Hi Nigel Happy Christmas to you. However aren't you leaving it a bit late for Christmas decorations. I must say I was too lazy last year and this year for lights. Not so much point when sun sets around 8 Pm. Still a lot of folks go mad with lights herein Perth. ol'will
Post a photo of decorated Kormoran.

OK .. lights hoisted ... but need lay our electric cable to it ... workers are using all my outlets in garage at present.

While on the boat - it started to slide to one side on the trailer .. I never put any straps .. managed to move on the boat to stop it and then stood on other side and she slid back upright again !! Will put couple of straps on her later.

Lovely decorations Nigel. Found a good use for the little boat. Light displays for Christmas here are not so satisfying with mid summer so dark quite late. ol'will

The boat having had various repairs done in the autumn will be returning to on-water duties after winter .... I intend to clean up and line the cabin with Van Lining ... new cabin sole ... bunk 'mattresses' etc.

I may even treat her to a new set of sails. The originals are so weak and baggy - they are unusable. I did acquire a replacement set from a large dinghy ... but the mainsail has a 3 point leech ... leech extends up and then angles in to mast head ... this makes the sail flog a lot on the river ....

The mast also shows that the boat is over-canvassed ... it could do with about a 10 - 15% reduction on the main.

You can see it here ... (photo taken after ice wall has thawed = that threw my boats up on the bank ...
