what an idiot!

Those kind of antics dont help improve the image of motorboaters in the eyes of the sailing fraternity

I've watched this twice now, and I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Could he of gone a different route...? Yes.
Was he going too fast and being unsafe...? No.
Even the commentators weren't bothered by it. They commented on the boats having to go through some wash, but that was all.
A non story for me.

I saw that boat down by the folly this afternoon, I came from hamble way. It was almost like a hazard perception test out there today.

What's new? Us raggies see it all the time??
If motorboaters had right of way in every situation, you would see some horrendous situations for those around us....well, think about it, raggies DO have right of way...and while some treat this as a privilege and try not to make a nuisance of themselves...some go out of their way to create a situation where they dare you to react

No they do not. They are (or may be) the stand on vessel in many situations, but no vessel has "right of way". But the reality IMHO is that many (?most) mobo owners are recklessly aggressive in close quarters . The Solent provides especially rich pickings for this. As an ex-raggie-now-mobo'er it's embarrassingly awful to watch.

Absolutely...on our crowded summer waters I see things everyday that you wonder how they don’t end in tragedy...some people are naturally reckless...others have just had too much sun...many simply forget their skills in the off-season

But why as a mobo (or even a raggie)put yourself in the middle of a yacht race to start with. That's selfish. Nothing to do with territory stuff. Politeness says let them get on with it, go round, it's no hassle for me. Don't matter, politeness, etc.
I get a lot of these races...even world championships...and no attempt is made by the authorities to accommodate every water user....and heaven forbid if it’s a regatta...you could lose your summer trying to get back into port

like many on here I cannot see the problem, where does it say the Yachties have the exclusive right of way in the Solent whereby they are not allowed to use the Solent to be on there way ? It’s getting worse by the day that the sailing fraternity think they are some kind of executive team . I’m so glad i got out of this 6 years ago .

It's a lot closer than I would have passed, but if the race is across one of the busiest parts of the Solent, there are bound to be conflicts sometimes.
Just because it's a race, doesn't mean the sailing boats have exclusive use of that water.
No sailing boat had to change course because of the motor boat.
But they did get waked out a bit, which probably didn't help their race.
