All,

Can anyone recomend any insurance comapny that bring the annual amount year on year with NCB accumulating ? I have been with Mardon Marine now for 3 years and my NCD isnt going down by much at all.

Chris

St Margarets Direct are very good.

Great service too, they have real human beings who answer the phone after less than 10 rings and don't need to transfer you half a dozen times.

Navigators & General in Brighton (part of Zurich).
I have been with them for 20+ years and have had quite a few claims over the years they always paid up promptly with no fuss and with very competitive rates

Try Dean at De novo always been good for me

Second that DeNovo insure a lot of the industry and whilst they may not always be the bottom line cheapest they have a super quick claims procedure and you can always get hold of one of there small team so they actually know you rather than a computer call handling place

We had a claim for flood damage and they were faultless from start to finish

Get a quote from them at Denovo Website

I use them for my own boat insurance, but will always give there details to anyone who asks as they are first class for the reasons stated.

Had a claim with them too and they actually helped guide me to make sure my claim was correctly out forward and acceptable.

Can't rate them highly enough.

Why are you worried about NCD? The only things that matter are premium, level of cover and level of service. How they calculate the premium is irrelevant. In car insurance NCD is used to differentiaite between the good and the bad (from a claims point of view) based on a standard premium. Bad are likely to be several times the risk of good so pay higher premiums (or don't earn NCDs).

A similar situation does not exist in boat insurance where there is a much narrower band of risk, NCD is used but I have never seen higher than 20%. I have had the same boat for 30 years, made two claims, one minor, the other major - the last in 1987. Still have 20% NCD. However, get quotes evry 4 or 5 years to check premium and have never changed.

So, draw yourself up a list of 4 o5 underwriters and brokers and ask for quotes against the same risks. Compare the cover and premiums carefully and you should be able to identify the best value (assuming equal level of service)

MBM did a comparison between insurance companies a couple of years ago and I believe GJW came out tops. I use them and just submitted a claim where someone hit my boat whilst it was on it's home mooring. I got an email within 3 days of submitting the claim and quote for repair telling me to go ahead with the repairs. Faultless
