Hi Can anybody tell me is it possible to adjust the amount of friction on the lever of this control box, as on a recent trip from Torbay to Dartmouth I needed to keep my foot on the throttle to stop it sliding back to slow when in forward.

Not sure if it can be adjusted or not, the only bolt I can see on the back of the control box just secures the cables, is it possible to remove it and strip it down inside, or is it a sealed unit?

Am I looking at a new control box?

There's no adjustment on the ordinary MV-2, although the "yacht" version may have adjustment. Does the engine have a throttle return spring? If so, remove it. Some people have solved the problem by gently bending the cable to induce more friction, and then holding it in a kinked position by clipping it to a solid surface.

Morse Control Problem

Thanks Pvb for the tip re the friction kink, no the engine has not got a return spring so will try and induce some added friction into the cable to see if that improves the situation?

I have bodged this problem by taking the unit apart and adding a washer on the main shaft. It's a tricky operation as the detent spring is dificult to get back. Eventually I decided that I might as well buy a new unit, but that was exactly the same and I added a washer to that as well!
