Compared to the 100s of £s I paid for mine!-is that what you have to pay down south-I pay £50 a year to the Crown thru my mooring association plus £30 for annual diver survey-now demanded by the Crown.I will need a new riser for next year.
I'll bet there is, they've seen that muppet pay 4.6k for one so they are all thinking, I'll have some of that!
Mind you, even at 4.6k, if he was in a marina before hand, he will get his money back after 2 or 3 years, he'll be fitter too, if he rows out to his boat and back
Yes, the person who bought the eBay mooring obviously didn't do ANY homework whatsoever...
Having said that, was it sold?? It just says auction closed.. maybe the seller started the price at £4600..??? I'm not a regular on ebay so maybe it doesn't work that way...
I do wonder if the "winner" will actually pay £4,600 for a mooring only worth around £600. Something just doesn't seem right with this particular auction, 72 different bids.
When I see the seller next I'll ask and see what's what.
well seems us 'locals' migh be sitting on'a 'bag o gold' then, easier than smuggling or telling 'tales to visitors'.
Think i'll buy up other Exe 'moorings' at about £300 or so an go 'ebaying' with bait.
Although, did meet up with a Yachty Couple a while back who took up moorings on Exe this year as their South Coast moorings were 'difficult' due to rising costs and the Olympics restrictions.
So everthing has a 'Silver (Gold) lining' it would seem.
"its only worth what people are prepared to pay for it"
Fair play to chap who got 4.6k for his mooring, i see that there is two more been put on ebay and i hope they have the same good luck as he did!!!!!!
Have you ever heard of the saying "it only worth what people are prepared to pay for it"
they were all started at a low price. There were 9 bidders in total on the one which made 4.6k so obviously 9 bidders very prepared to pay good money for it.
