Thank you for your time, I have recently sold my boat that was moored in the club naval and now looking to bu a hans Christian sail boat but now I would have to find a place to put her. I wanted to know if it was possible to buy a mooring ball in Alvor Portugal

Not heard of one for sale for quite a while. There were a couple for rent though earlier in the year. What size boat and draught. I can ask around if you like? Also have friend who is selling boat that has a mooring with it in Alvor. If the boat sells and goes elsewhere then the mooring may be up for sale. Give me a few days till I get back from uk and ill make some enquiries.Feel free to pm me to remind me mid next week in case something else gets in the way and I forget.

I am looking for a boat and it is an open book at the moment, what is your friends boat ?

Its an old Feeling 286s. Nice design and sails well. Had a new Nanni fitted a few years ago. Needs a lot of tidying inside and out to be honest with you. Think shes asking about 17k for it, including the mooring if required. I do like the design, with open fore cabin and two twin cabins, one in each quarter. A lot of cosmetic work to do though. Depends what youre looking for. It's in the Marina boatyard right now having stern tube replaced and bottom done.

Thank you , the mooring ball would be my first step as that would give me the motivation to find my boat.

None of the moorings in Alvor are official. Buying one would entitle you to the ground tackle, but not the spot on the seabed.

Ground tackle for moorings varies greatly, but the most common is three anchors in a Y, with chains coming to a swivel and riser. Most have been laid by amateurs, few are regularly inspected.

I suspect you may be incorrect on this one. The mooring she has is recorded with the authorities and she carries out diver inspections every couple of years. The inspections may not be mandatory or official but the mooring definitely is. I agree that there are many moorings both in Alvor and Portimao that are non official and never inspected. It doesn't necessarily include all of them.

wow, thank you for this information.
This is my bucket list after working hard all my life and want to put my baby safe and secure so to have an official
Mooring would probably be best for insurance.
If this comes up for sale I would be so much interested in it purchase.
Thank you for your response.

If you are considering the Feeling 286, I thought you may like some information on the 286. I bought one new in 1987. They sail well and I can recommend one. I sailed single handed, including using the spinnaker, so should suit you for the sailing. The only thing you should know is the forward berth is short and only suitable for children.

I still have the original brochure. These links will give you high resolution photos.

Somewhere I have later a colour brochure, but I have not photographed it.

thank you
I have an idea the boat I am looking for is a 43 hans Christian or the CT56 as am 6.4 and need a lot of room.

Not going to be easy to find or buy a mooring for a boat that size in Alvor but I ll keep my ear to the ground for you. Renting from a current owner is more likely. The was one knocking around for rent earlier this year, think it was mentioned on here but I have no idea of its provenance or inspection regime.
