Just finished this and thoroughly enjoyed it. Basically a tale of smuggling, has echoes of Robert Louis Stevenson in its pace and style but with overtones of Thomas Hardy, being set in Dorset. Currently free for Kindle.

First real book I was ever forced to read, aged 9 at prep school. I remember the agony vividly.

Will now attempt to read it properly!
