More the " EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) | FGP " era which since 2010 has been regulating the import of unsustainable hardwood from deforestation.Ah... the IKEA era.
Recently it has got even more restrictive, particularly targetting "blood timber" from Mayanmar.
EU rules against illegal logging
... which has driven up the price of hardwoods considerably, meaning leisure boat manufacturers are turning to plywood faced with ALPI veneers instead .... and when you look at what is available, it certainly explains the garish interior options on modern boats.
