MOB

I also added whistles to my horseshoes, simple and cheap. I bit of string and velcro to secure them.

The drogue is essential, we have tried throwing them and got nowhere, hardly any point with the throwing line too, the distance I was getting even after half an hour of practice was just laughable, unless the boat stopped at the moment the MoB hit the water.

The floating line is good however to tow behind the boat if approaching the casualty is too dangerous.

At night we keep a snap light thingy in our pockets as something to wave in the air, light stick, that's it? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

a builders bag

what a great idea, with a bit of thought it could double as a sea anchor - perhaps

We have tried that and found it works well, but seems to work better with a bigger, dinner plate size, hole in the bottom. With the smaller, six inch hole, it can take a bit of time for the bag to open out

We are lucky to have a 200kg winch in the cockpit. With a roller mounted on a suitable size wooden mount, that fits over the top of the transom. We have managed to winch my mate, all 20 stone of him over the transom, in the bag. We also believe we could safely retrieve someone using the anchor winch.
