I have a SH GX2100 radio, as it's a fairly common radio, it's possible someone has an answer, otherwise I'll ask SH. I think this may be interesting to other radios as well.
The above radio has the possibility of "navigating to a waypoint". The wp can be manual input, but it can also be automatic: one example is when the radio receives a distress call, there is the possibility to input the received position as a wp and navigate towards that point (the screen indicates bearing and distance).
The manual says "when the radio receives the distress call from another radio... (etc etc)", it does not say if the same can be done with a distress call from our own boat.
Example: MOB, send distress call, the position of the vessel/casualty is then treated as a waypoint.
Does anyone know if this is possible, that is: if I send a distress call, will the coordinates being sent by the mayday be available as waypoint in the radio ? Now that I have a remote microphone in the cockpit, that would avoid having to go at the chart table to push the MOB button on the fixed GPS (I have no plotter in the cockpit).
regards
