MMSI number

Wanting to change the MMSI on my M-Tech DCS Radio, the manual said to send it back to the manufacturer about changing it, however doing a Google search came up method on a forum site (sorry but can't remember which), which worked perfectly.
Now that is a teaser and rather a big search

Has exactly the same scenario with new to us boat 6 months ago. AIS and VHF programmed using an MMSI and the PO couldn't be bothered to sort out.

Be aware that older radios may not be supported anymore or the kit to reprogram them no longer available. I ended up with a new radio ( was planning an upgrade anyway) but very mucha case of caveat emptor - nevere assume the previous owner has high standards or knows what they are doing!!

Ok - a nice easy resolution!

I called ofcom, explained that although I had the MMSI number for the radio, neither I nor the seller had a clue what the Call sign was, and as such I couldn't complete the form to take ownership of the number.

The lady at ofcom took the MMSI and gave me the call sign!

New Ship Radio licence created, "has the radio been registered before and if so what's the MMSI & call sign" COMPLETED.

New licence issued with correct details!

Hope this helps others in the future!
