MMSI number

It's simple enough and doesn't cost anything to have it's own ships radio licence and MMSI, so why not ?
I thought the radio license was condition on the boat's own registration, which is £153 a year if you're not UK resident. Don't know how much the SSR is, but presumably it has some cost?
see post #17, if the tender VHF has DSC then it is in your own interest to register is seperately.
A handheld DSC MMSI is issued in addition to the ship's own registration.

No, the boat does not need to be registered to get a ships radio license, or handheld DSC license.

Having spoken to OFCOM, they advised to get a separate license that brings with it a new MMSI number for the tender's VHF.
In the drop down menus, I was advised to use Motor Boat as description as there was no option for dinghy or tender (I would love to have chosen Minesweeper 😀) and the lowest available weight, which was one ton 😳

Anyway, all done and VHF updated with the MMSI.

Thank you to all who took the time to add their input.
