Went to MMS on Saturday. They have gone bust. Online catalogue is down. Chandlery has been taken over by Nauticalia. No more discounts ;-(
I'm afraid anybody with MMS vouchers is out of luck.

And why, when people are buying yachts,

... like there's no tomorrow, these mail-order places are folding?

There doesn't seem to be any problem for local chandlers, at least round my way - except their suppliers are disappearing.

The local chandlery for me during the week was London Yacht Centre. Closed down end of September :-(

Re: And why, when people are buying yachts,

MMS were local chandlers with shops in two busy and wealthy marinas.

They are a sad loss for Raymarine and Volvo supplies.

Re: And why, when people are buying yachts,

Cruisermart on the Highway used to be my nearest (closed a couple of yrs ago). The next best thing was LYC. London seems to be experiencing a shortage of chandlers unless you count the clothes shop by Charing Cross (Ocean Leisure?).

They started out as Marlow Marine Services (hence the initials) then branched out with a second premises at Shepperton and traded as MMS Direct selling mail order chandlery.

Mailspeed are one mail order chandlers who seem to be doing alright, they have just moved in to a bigger space. And the best thing about them for me is they are based about a mile from where I work in the definitely non-coastal and as un-marine-as-you-can-get Warrington. So I can get mail order prices and go and poke around in their rather chaotic showroom/warehouse. Great for dull February lunchtimes.
