I have a Mitsubishi Vetus M4.15 33hp engine installed which has worked fine with no problem until this weekend when it started to stall without reason. The fuel is fine, and not contaminated. Could this be an electrical type problem? - I noted that the RPM gauge had started to give intermittent readings dropping to zero for a second or two and then recovering. This happens whether the engine is hot or cold. Would be very grateful for any thoughts or ideas.

Have you checked the wiring to the fuel cut off solenoid. If the engines tends to partially shut down then recovers it could be a loose wire and the extra vibration caused as the engine "shudders" to a halt may just be enough to make the connection again. Not too familiar with your engine but the fuel solenoid is usually on the injection pump with a single wire going to it.

Thanks for the thoughts. It would seem to be fuel pump/solenoid related, the engine cutting out as it goes into idle. (Just coming up to the pontoon of course) Cries of "Upon my word" and similar!. Thanks for your reply.
