Missing yachtswoman in South west.

Wandering Star: You are the kind of guy I take note of - and mate, you are not bragging...its good to know there are some real well versed blokes here whom can offer up some real world expertise from their experience out there where it counts - on the water.

Cheers.
and also to add to this, the issue is not about sailing experience ,i couldnt care two hoots if you went around the world 50 times with only one arm and a bacon sandwich. the issue was "getting tired" after 20 hours at the helm

that was my response ,thought id best post the reply so people could start up this argument again without knowing what the hell it was about :D

just sayin .....

Chris , If you wish to pursue this paricular rabbit why don't you start another thread and do it there rather than continuing to create background noise on this one?

Would you PLEASE stop misquoting me? I did NOT say I spent 20 hours on the HELM without getting tired. I said I have often spent 20 hours on WATCH which is not the same thing at all. Plenty of other posters on this thread have also claimed to have worked extended watches, some for as long as 40 hours.

Just what is the chip on your shoulder?

Cheers, Brian.

i did leave it .but others are bringing it back up again who do not know what the convo was about, why don,t you have a chat with those people instead of myself i had put it to bed, actually

Thanks. Pease leave it in its bed. Just a suggestion.
The missing lady's family might find your posts offensive when they read them.

It's academic anyway, everyone's different. There are people who can run for 24 hours so I'm damn sure that somewhere there will be someone who could do a 20 hour trick on the helm without getting tired. Maybe this woman was one of them. We don't know how much sleep she got before she set out. For all we know she's 100pc fit after 20 hours of hand steering. Or maybe the thrill of a new boat kept her awake and alert. We just don't know.

What we do know is she never got the chance to find out as Sennen is just a couple of hours on from Mousehole, so to a certain extent that bit is only relevant in determining the wisdom of her passage plan rather than the cause of this tragedy.

We don't even know that. She might have sailed 10 hours one way for the hell of it, 10 hours back and then got hit by a meteor a mile up wind and tide of Sennen.

Personally, a nav error would be low on my list of possible causes on the basis that if she'd hit a rock or some such she'd have probably been able to get off the boat or even get on the radio. And I reckon if she'd done that her body would have been with the other wreckage. But that's a guess based on damn all evidence.

+2 I made this post yesterday at16:47

"While I can understand people wanting to speculate, there seems some pretty wild suggestions coming out on this thread. I wonder is this the time or the place, my thoughts are with the family and friends"

While many have been reasonable and considerate some of the responses are so beyond the pale as to be grossly offensive. People criticise the Daily Mail but some posts on here make the Mail look like the a shining beacon of good reporting. I believe that the family and friends are desperately worried and casting about for all the information they can find about their friends/loved one. I do hope they do not find this thread.

Better put somewhat I feel.
It's just I get so frustrated and disgusted with insensitive idiots, who put an uninforme pias opinion.

Gents, please stop your bickering and get the post back to the original thread!!
Has there been any recent developments regarding locating any further wreckage or hopefully the lady in question?
I haven't seen any further reporting on the situation in the press.

The pictures of the recovered wreckage show a ladies trainer shoe. Was this the footwear which Ms Unwin was wearing at the time? Has her husband confirmed that the shoe was the same size/type as his wifes?
Has there been any further items recovered from the scene which positively identifies the boat as the Moody in question.
Out of interest, if there had been a gas explosion/fire onboard the boat, would that top cushion bolster (the brown, velour looking one in the DM photo) not be either burnt, charred or smoke damaged if the fire was disastrous enough to destroy the whole boat?
