is it me or do you suffer from missing your boat ,even though we went for 4 days last week not being able to go out p11sses me off

Sold my last old tub and promised myself that a long critical slow cool patient look at what was on the market would be sensible and not to rush the next purchase..
That lasted about about 24 hours after the money hit the bank account !

Now that out boat is on Spain I do miss it. I've got a lot of little jobs that I could do if it was still back in the UK.
On the plus side, I can hit the ground running when the season starts in a few weeks time and I certainly don't have to worry about freezing temperatures or anything like that.

I sold my boat in mid December and I'm going to collect my new to me boat in Greece first week of April. I'm like a lost child. I go to the marina every second day and just walk around. I visit the dockyard to see what boats have been lifted and what work they're getting done. 4 weeks and counting, and counting, and counting !!!!!

We're between boats and it's driving us mad at the moment. The new one should have been delivered last Tuesday, but the yard slipped it out to next Tuesday because the weather was stopping them completing preparation - now they have slipped out another week because the yard is deep in snow!

Yup! Every day not spent on, in, or upside down in the bilges of, the boat is just a day wasted on trying to earn a few pennies to put towards the upkeep of it.

First winter with the boat abroad and I'm certainly looking forward to a couple of weeks on board at Easter. As Pete says, it's hard not being able to pop down and sort some odd jobs out on a whim, although I have a growing pile of things at home ready for fitting, from a mooring camera system, to new throttle for the RIB, and I'm just itching to get down there!

We've had a boat in the UK since 1997, but whilst I loved being so close to it, I hated spending all winter waiting for summer, and all summer wishing it was summer. The coping strategy is that we'll spend 10 weeks there this year and we'll pretty much have guaranteed good weather for most of it. That gets me through the 'missing' bit! TBH, popping down for 3-4 days by myself to do odd jobs is very do'able - short flight from Heathrow, 40 mins at the other end.

Ah, when we have a boat, we spend most of our time on it all the year round. The replacement is going to be three weeks late (assuming that we don't get any more bad weather) and we are getting cabin fever already.

Sold mine last Autumn and promised myself I wouldn't replace it until next year and to spend my time working on the house, which sadly was neglected whilst owning a boat.

Sold my boat nearly 2 years ago , you sort of grow out of the want to go boating , not sure I will ever get back into it .
At this present time I’ve other hobbies and commitments to occupy my life . Let’s hope for us all we get a better summer , that might spur me on to looking again, there is still a shortage of good clean boats for sale , they are certainly holding there values at the moment.

I guess working on them and the odd sea trial gives you a short fix of boating.
I just stopped myself searching through the S34 ads. Must stop. Cars are also my weakness but I have that toy already.
Hopefully it'll be a buyers market when I decide to get back into it.

Funnily enough, having sold last year I am quite enjoying not having a winter maintenance list for a boat
I do miss being able to get on the water and we are now thinking of less money in a motor boat so that we can sail as well. Current thoughts are going back in time (for us) and getting a modest sports cruiser complete with ‘devils eggwhisks’, which will no doubt have your approval
