Here you go ......... one or two other interesting modifications too

I enjoyed watching the picture gallery of the modifying of the Mirror. Boy what a waste of effort and materials but of course each to his own. I liked the self draining cockpit.
However his pictures of the boat on it's side seem to indicate there would be no problem with water entering the cabin when knocked down. Not so of course the situation would be vastly different with one adult in the cockpit when on its side. He would want to keep wash board in at all times when sailing in any real wind.
My 21fter has passed self righting moment tests and looks high and dry when 180 degrees over (no one on board) but I know in practice it is vastly different with a crew all standing on the low side of the cockpit even leaning out to the high side. So with no ballast he should not feel so safe. Still it must be better than the original Mirror. Perhaps he is proposing a major ocean crossing???? olewill

When I were a lad (jeez, thinking about it it's probably 50 years ago), a mate built himself a Mirror, and quickly got bored with it. At the time I had an ancient Cadet, and he decided cutter rig was the thing, so he "found" an alloy pole about 1.5" diameter, and with bits of line and stuff we lashed it all together. The Cadet jib was the foresail, as it had a slightly longer hoist and needed the extra distance... Too much string though with all the sheets

We did give that Mirror a hard time, sailing it once when the Malcolm Miller was sheltering in Mount's Bay, and were tracked planning at well in excess of 10 knots... Until the bungee on the rudder downhaul stretched and we bore away rapidly and rolled it in to windward.... Rescue boat? What rescue boat...
