Mini Globe Race.

Looks like a lot of them are heading there. 8 day pit stop as I understand it but free to explore islands by sail.

Then Tahiti where there is another required pit stop. You can get boat bits there for any repairs.

Cruising the Marquesas sounds great to me if there was plenty of time but as part of a pitstop in a race it wouldn't be as fun. There'd be to much work to do.

If you bought your own repair stuff! Mind you, if you could make something you need out of old Heineken cans.....

For me, stopping 8 days would have me champing to get going. Especially as they have to do something similar in Tahiti. Better access for repairing things and getting items flown in.

However, they knew what they were signing up for and the Marquesas are very, very relaxing!!

Eight days in the Marquesas and seven in Tahiti is both way to long and nowhere near enough. Think they also have to stop in Tonga.

we stopped for about 36hrs in Hiva Oa, strangely it was enough. The passage from Galapagos is a fairly easy going passage, just long, you tend not to break much stuff mainly cause your over careful because you have really no chance to fix anything and you still have a long way to go. Its funny; if your not on a cruise and are going somewhere after being at sea for weeks and weeks you actually want to get back to sea as soon as possible, staying for 8 days would really break your rhythm, and your` d be starting again.

Agree. A couple of days in Nukku Hiva, as lovely as it is, was enough. Slightly different as I was delivering a yacht to Tahiti, but the getting out of rhythm is bang on.

And there's only so many tins of Heiniken a crew can drink!!
