Mikado 56

Swa one a fgew years back at Berthon called NRK. From what I remember, balsa cored hull, superb aft saloon - this may not have been a standard layout. They were I believe built in Marseilles (or somewhere down that way). CN stands for Chantiers Navale (ie shipyard), "SO" is presumably the name of the yard (as it happens my boat was built at Chantiers des Ardennes in Marseilles).

Berton may have some specs. We really liked the boat but didn't want balsa core hull.

Good luck.

There are a couple for sale on the web. e-mail mailto:info@abyacht.com for details or do a search on "Mikado boat" in Google

Thanks for the info,

I wish you could expand a bit on the balsa
cored hull, what is wrong with that, why you did not want it?

You mentioned that ,Berton may have some specs.

That is really what I need ,as I look for a "Project Boat" to do interior refit.

How could I get to Berton,is this a shipyard? do you have any details ,address?

You mention your boat was made in the same area,

Was it also in the 1970-1980 years ,as the Mikado?

Are you satisfied from her?

I saw the boats on abyacht.com and I tried to contact him,

I also saw a boat in France ,they ask for 70000$

Thanks you very much for our help,

Regards,haim

Have a look at this guy's boat surveyingwebsite; Some of what he says is a little extreme, but I happen to agree with what he has to say about cored hull construction.

If the cored laminate is only above the waterline, that's fine; just make sure there is no delamination or badly done repair work which might indicate water penetration.

If the entire hull is cored, I wouldn't even consider it, there are too many ways for it to go wrong in very expensive ways.

HTH,cheers,
David
