Miami to Norfolk Virginia

The time is closing to the Spring Holiday. Have to take the boat up to the Potomac afterwards.
How far is it from Miami to Norfolk Virginia and how long should the journey take in May?
The boat is a Catalina38 which is fastish and seaworthy (see www.catalina38.org)

Wouldn't dream of letting them do my passage planning for me, but local knowledge and people who have done it before can often provide all sorts of helpful info to take into account when planning. Also want to know for ball park figure numbers in case I decide to go with delivery skipper option. Still, they give more amusing comments than a chart plotter, and the pilot books are so boring.

Distance from Miami to Norfolk Virginia is 750 NM

Break it up into manageable legs Would suggest St Augustine Fl. and Beaufort N.C. but there are several other places you could duck into. Having done the trip twice my inclination would be to get into the gulf stream and go for it. Give Cape Hatteras a wide berth!

If you are going around the outside be really carefull about getting a any wind direction from the North and giving wind over Gulf stream.

The closest I came to losing my boat was Just south of Cape Fear in 20+ knots from the NNE. Breaking waves coming over the deck from all directions.
