Are the Gypsies still there. We had a huge problem with them on the quay 6 years ago - they (2 teenagers) boarded the vessel whilst we were in on the quay and tried to take our bikes. I chucked one of them into the water..... We were slightly worried that they might come back with reinforcements, but they all cleared off .

They were there when we moored on the town quay last June (2018). Not much trouble though.

Thank you for your email.


The new Marina Licenses and Ministerial Decision have been published two weeks ago.

It will take some weeks more before all operational documents are signed by the Ministry of Tourism.

When this is arranged, the Marina can be re-opened and fully operated.

I actually found berthing on the commercial quays OK and convenient for town.

You def. don't want to be there in a southerly blow …...

Yeah they were there in 2015 and 2016 and were not a problem. However the local youths in their tricked out cars and motor scooters like to gather on the jetty to shoot the breeze and impress their girl friends with their really loud music systems.

There is a North/South jetty as well.

Phoned them. The lady that answered the phone said it's going to be closed for a few more months.

On 2 May 2019 the Minister of Tourism Elena Kountoura signed with the managing body "Marina Messolonghi SA" the amendment of the concession for the use and exploitation of the port of Messolonghi.

According to the Minister, "the contract definitively resolves the cumulative problems that have arisen since 2009 and prevented the project from proceeding, paving the way for the completion of the investment projects for the immediate operation of the marina".

Sounds too good to be true. Hope all is resolved and the marina can get back to business.
