We have to get an AFM as we are moving the boat to Greece on a long term basis. Has anyone used an agent/lawyer to do so or done it online? Any experience/recommendations would be welcome.
Yes please. Has he done an ATM for you?I know, and have worked with, someone based in Lefkada if that is of interest to you.
I am no expert on Greece but many in the Cruising Association are. Is it worth joining the CA to get definitive experience?Interestingly, the marina has said we can update with our tax number once we get it but that "it is not mandatory". So, now I'm wondering if we actually need one or not? Although I'm sure I read that you need a Greek tax number to pay the TEPAI?
Definitely not necessary to pay the etepai. I was just looking at it last night, as I've a trip planned early May.I'm sure I read that you need a Greek tax number to pay the TEPAI?
Thank you. Funny enough, Gouvia.Although I have the AFM, Gouvia Marina have never asked for it, and as previously mentioned you don't need it for the Tepai.
I'm of the view you don't need it for your mooring contract.
In passing, which Marina are you looking at?
For your information, we checked in at Corfu mid 2024. We did the procedure ourselves without using an agent. Passport control, customs and Port Police were very helpful and easy to deal with. I wouldn't advise using the Customs Quay at Kerkira. It's a disaster. Go to the marina and taxi from there.Thank you. Funny enough, Gouvia.
Been in Greece for 6 years. Never had an AFM. No issues getting Etepai or my UTL by not having it. Do not need one to pay the marina or anyone else for that matter. Basically you need to focus on two things only: Etepai (easy to do online) and your UTL/LTL depending on your VAT status. I used an agent for my UTL and was worth every pennyThank you, I was hoping more for the names of a legal/fiscal representative and now I am also wanting to know if it is necessary at all. Hoping people who are non resident in Greece but have their boats berthed there can provide some guidance.
Thank you. I don't suppose you could let me know who (the agent) you used for your UTL. Our boat is British flagged but EU VAT paid and we are Portuguese resident. We do have the original VAT invoice.Been in Greece for 6 years. Never had an AFM. No issues getting Etepai or my UTL by not having it.
