mercury 40 need help

Hi, i am new to this site so to start hi to all, i have a mercury 40 and have just got a mercontrol for it, but do not know how to wire it to the engine, can anybody help? there is a gray, orange, yellow, black and red from the mercontrol, many thanks Colin.

There actually should be a plug in loom with rubber end and corresponding plug - male / female sort of thing, not just bare wires with colours.

Can you elaborate with any details?

no plug just 5 wires, on the engine are two blocks of terminals, not sure how old the engine is.
