Outboard has just died. Spark OK but lots of unburnt fuel coming out of the exhaust as I try to start it. It is not choked. I have spoken to a outboard service company who almost categorically says it is a caburettor problem probably the jet blocked.
Anybody out there with a service manual who can point me in the right direction so that I dont alter the carb needle settings

you'll be fine, pull it apart don't take the needle out of the slide, you'll probably find all that's wrong is the needle valve, this is operated by the float (make sure it does!) at worse you'll need a new one, but it's more than likely sh*t preventing it from closing... clean it out, refill wiv fuel. and try it.

after they've been flooded they become hard to start due to plug wetting... one way to overcome this is by heating the plug end over a gas flame, this gives it a chance to burn off the residual fuel.. don't burn your fingers, and good luck. steve.
