Mercruiser 4.2 diesel oil

Opened engine bay to find a small splattering of engine oil all around the place , this was after a 4 hour run …. Run the engine in the dock but not visible signs … I’ll looking towards the turbo but wondered if anyone had any other pointers .. thanks

Is the oil overfilled? If so if can spit out.
Was the dipstick fully home? If not you will get oil spat out from the tube.

Had oil splat out of dipstick when i did not fully push it in
