Mending a Dremel

My cordless Dremel has stopped working properly. The motor sometimes kicks in but at a very narrow band, perhaps just at 2k revs or 8k revs. Sometimes not at all. The rev knob is integral to the pcb so nothing to see there. Is the motor brushless? There doesn’t seem to be a way of opening it.
Any ideas? TIA.
 
I had a dremmel.

Used it twice. Once on a low speed when I first got it, for the job I bought it for.

Again a few years later on a high speed and it just stopped. No amount of youtube videos or coaxing from me could get it going again.

Very underwhelmed.
If I need one again I will buy the cheapest copy version I can find.
 
My first Dremel-type tool lasted 60 years of very intermittent use. I inherited a corded Dremel that is now about 35 years old. No problems.

I have an air powered die grinder for HD use. Mostly, that is what I use. Weld clean-up.

I also have a Demel oscillating tool. Very good. Powerful.

Sorry for your bad luck. Kept on the boat or somewhere else, very humid? Grinding a lot of fiberglass? Odd. I understand the newer ones have quality issues (very different looking from the older ones, which were known to run-and-run. They had a very good name.
 
I got a Lidl one as a "tool for the job", maybe 20 years ago. It comes out a couple of times a year, so hasn't exactly been worked to death, but it's still going strong.

I'm locked into DeWalt for cordless stuff, because that's what I started with, years ago, and I don't want to have to mess around with different batteries and chargers but, for mains tools for occasional DIY use, I rate Parkside up there with any other DIY makes.
 
My little used genuine Dremel wouldn't lock to remove bits a few years ago, so tried to buy the tiny spare part - no stock at that time. Bought a Screwfix cheapie, had lots of use, still works well. This year finally bought and fitted a genuine Dremel locking pin, still doesn't lock properly.

I'm with bosch cordless, the 18v power for all. Last purchase was a cordless work lamp. Been a brilliant bit of kit, especially for working on the boat. The bosch multitool has also been a good purchase with a lot of use, especially on the boat.
I've still got a Parkside mains multitool, but it feels so agricultural when compared to the bosch.
 
My Dremel died within months of being used quite extensively on some window restoration. Bought from Screwfix, it was replaced without quibble. It replaced an earlier Aldi rip off that l opened and completely banjaxed. My approach to it was what is the worst that could happen, and it did😀
