So today I was hit with a whopper of a quote for my next years berthing at Premiers Port Solent Marina...

They even got the length of our craft wrong, which considering we have been with them for 2 years already, is rather worrying!

Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the price down, or ideas for going somewhere new with our Princess V39, 42ft. The things we want are:

- local amenities and preferably restaurants.
- Solent Access.
- a space to give the dog a walk.
- decent on site chandlery.
- high quality of service with new or solid fixtures and fittings for power and fuel etc.
- a marina feel rather than a warehouse or dry dock with Marina as an after thought.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Hi
We are at cobbs,
1- bit of a walk or taxi
2- within an hour of the bridge to town quay at lyminton,
3- yep, bit of an Alison's cave!
4- yep, 24hr and friendly staff
5- yes defiantly
We pay a tad over £8k for 47ft

Foulkes on top of the Hamble. The savings overall will likely pay for your fuel all season. Might fit the 45' berth I have just vacated - speak to Anthony Foulkes.

Yes to all your specifications.

Downside - it is virtually full up.

Pop down the harbour to Haslar.

Very good waterside facilities in terms of power, pontoons etc.

A couple of local places to buy you boat stuff, Youboat being the biggest. Endeavour Quay has superb dry facilities for hauling out and of course there's Sealift on site.

Local shops provide for most needs including Waitrose, Morrisons, Asda, Aldi, Lidl etc. Eaeries do exist in the area, Trinity's (the lightship) has been revived then of course there is Gunwharf Quays a £3 return ferry ride across the harbour.

Straight out into the Solent, no waiting for locks and much cheaper than PS. Referral from a berth holder gets you a further discount as well.

We've been here 10 years or more now (moved down from PS).

Henry :)

+1 and following Henry's advise. We are currently with Premier, PS 5 years then Gosport for last 3 months as they had no decent 13m berths for the new boat @ PS.
I wrote to Premier advising them I was leaving - they have just replied offering to discus it so they might negotiate but they will need to meet new offer which is somewhat lower + an introduction bonus.
Its like the banks loyalty does not count for much but I suspect Premier may be in for a bit of a wake up call.
