will someone be posting on here, I would love to see some images from on the water.

If it comes to size I would happily give my email for a decent quality image.

Don't know if he will give images, as I expect he'll want to make money off them, but I'll take my digital, and try to get some shots. I'll watch what he does, and point and shoot at same time while helming! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Can't guarantee same results, as he will have big lense and proper camera, but will do my best!

Cunard site says ....

QE2 & QM2 - Together in Southampton

The ships will sail up Southampton Water between 4am and 5am. For navigational and safety reasons the two ships will be a mile apart as they proceed up Southampton Water.

There will be a royal opportunity to see the two ships together when at 3pm, QE2 will sail past Queen Mary 2. A perfect photo opportunity of the two Queens together. The best place to view this historical moment will be from the Hythe side of the water.

piccies not brilliant because of the heavy mist (though have look at the last three, which shows what it was like going back down the Solent at 44knts a little later on!

When the site loads, click on Style at upper right to change format. Thumbnails allows you to see all of them in small, then click to enlarge. Hover mouse over picture for any captions. You can enlarge piccies to medium or full size

Thank you for those Brendan, I think the QE2 is definately the prettier of the two, obviously I don't know how they fair internally. The Queen Mary 2 looks far too tall, make you think of a rolly polly passage for guests.

I used to have an oly 900z, a great little camera with a fabulous lens for a point and click. For low light shots on a moving platform I think your shots have come out brilliantly.

44kts, pah, I guess if your photographer was holding the fuel purse that would be ok, but I am just too stingy to coff up for that! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

We discussed that on the day. QM2 is def a slab sided lump built to accomodate lots of space, and not at all pretty compared to QE2

It's my standard camera for shots on boat, cos I don't worry too much if it gets wet/lost. Seem to remember it was first zoom lense they managed to build for digital consumer camera - very small compared to35mm, but you are right, great lense for the type of camera. For a far better shot, have a look at Gary's site

under what's new (site has only been up a few days) and click on QM2/QE2 piccie to enlarge. Big lense, better camera, nice shot.

Photographer was taken out as treat, picked up and dropped off at Hamble, blast home to Lymington on flat water in sun, was for pure fun and joy of being out on the boat after extended absence!

I'd just like to thank Brendan for taking us on the water. If any fellow motor boaters can offer the same courtesy at various times during the summer it would be very much appreciated. It's mainly cruise ships we're after. I can be contacted at gary@maritimephotographic.co.uk if you want some nice ship piccies!
