I saw her remains about 3 weeks ago when I had lunch at the cafe - used to love the beer and pasties on board when that was the only option for food at Island Harbour.

I think you mean the steam paddle tug sitting on a barge near to the entrance to Chatham Docks. It is not on the national register of historic ships.

Being on a barge is probably the best way to limit the amount of rot as it is out of the salt water.

That's the John H Amos; quite a sad state and it seems unlikely she will be restored barring a rich eccentric taking her on.

Edit to add; I'm sure the maritime trust will preserve her as far as their budget will allow, but where money for anything else is going to come from is unclear.

Thank you for the name John H Amos. This has turned up a lot of information. A very interesting read. I had forgotten she been tied up at Anchor Wharf beside the Ropeworks in Chatham Dockyard and subsequently sunk. The second link is about the lift that put her on the barge.
