Med boaters - will you get to your boat this year?

I think it was @Hooligan that pointed this out to me:-
Download the NHS App onto your mobile phone.
You have to go through some clever security but eventually, the app connects with your local surgery data and you can see your recent medical history.
My record has my first jab recorded - on the date that I had it.
I'm sure my second one will be on there as well after I have had it.
So, you already have proof of your jabs - assuming that a "jobs worth" official will understand that the NHS app is genuine.

Yep Our GP surgery gives us full access to our NHS medical records, which we have had for some time, as you say, it gives the Vax dates.... An official stamp in your passport, having given that info to HMPO, would work best I reckon...!

We cannot be complacent I know, we must all take care even when things open-up, only time will tell.

Lets hope all UK and EU Covid deaths drop to near zero very soon. Lets be positive.

I am quite prepared to run the risk of catching an SCV ( Sant Carles Variant) and also to run the risk of skin cancer, due to excessive amounts of sunlight.... oh if only....!

Thanks for that link. We had a holiday booked for June to Cyprus. That does not look good
I think it is all about what you do, whether holidaying in the UK or abroad eg Cyprus. If its a Magaluff holiday you are after then I suspect the risk is high. If like most people my age the plan is to be with family, have some nice meals out - generally all outside, then I suspect the chance of you getting killed on the way to catch the plane is greater than getting CV. It is all about individual risk assessment, something sadly missing in most analysis of the subject. Far easier and more convenient to scare the crap out of people with talk of things it is difficult to comprehend. Who knows, bubonic plague may be out there waiting for us.

Its a Villia holiday for just the 2 of us. with some meals out. was thinking more of what we would have to do when back in UK ,

Everyone remember, a lot of people probably thought that they were safe up a snowy mountain, exercising in the fresh air, isolated from the world. But that’s how it happened (allegedly). When we first heard of the pandemic rising, we cut back on social interaction, and even quizzed people about where they had been before making essential appointments. Others were skiing and attending Cheltenham Horse Festival.
This is not about individuals making risk assessments it’s about nations (and supranational bodies) making risk assessments. The duty of the individual is to keep themselves and family safe which has the knock on effect of keeping all of society safe.

Seems like Bozo is now claiming that lockdown was the main reason for the recent drop in Covid deaths not the vaccine

COVID-19: Lockdown is main reason for drop in coronavirus cases and deaths - not vaccinations, says Boris Johnson

If thats the case why is he lifting lockdown and where does that leave us vaccinated people who want to travel to our boats in the Med?:rolleyes:

I suspect that Bozo's PR people are frantically preparing a press release as we speak about how Bozo was 'misspeaking'
Because those of us on the other side of the channel are still awaiting our vaccinations and do not know how long it will take to get them, it's a lottery here at the moment, my 90y father in law has had his first, my 62y sis in law has had both of hers, my 29y daughter has had hers, but 3 sons 1 daughter and ourselves have not had it.

No political spin needed .Follow the science . The gov is dong that hence the startling results thus far .

Might be better for folks on here to get there heads around s variants and stop thinking it’s “ Covid “ a one stop disease .
Your vaccination protects you sufficiently from 1-1-7 B the “Kent “ to open up after lockdown.

Read my posts above we are waiting to see how much it protects from others circulating in the EU .

The more you electively mix as opposed work and economic mixing the greater chance of coming a cropper , bumping into a virus that defeats what antibodies you have .Particularly if you electively mix in different populations as opposed to Brexit / vaxed up island .

By mid June as I say the scientific community will have a better handle and i guess tell you the risks and then on it’s your informed choice to stick or twist - roam about , seek out crowds in far flung high / 100k case destinations on a wing and pray what ever antibodies you have can tackle what ever variants are thrown at your body .

Carry on watching the EU numbers in your target destinations the closer they get from your home area the better .

BTW iam not advocating some sort of extended travel ban over the summer , just kicking into touch this phase “ because it’s allowed it must be ok “ kinda safe etc ,

Hence gov needs to paint a correct picture so folks returning and subsequently falling I’ll and clogging up the NHS keep fingers off the blame trigger .

Spain has a large shipment of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine...... Now this!

'U.S. federal health agencies on Tuesday will call for an immediate pause in use of Johnson & Johnson's single-dose COVID-19 vaccine after six U.S. recipients developed a rare disorder involving blood clots, the New York Times reported, citing officials briefed on the decision.

All the six recipients were women between the ages of 18 and 48. One woman died and a second woman in Nebraska has been hospitalized in critical condition, the NYT reported.

The company's shares were down 3% before the opening bell.

The Food and Drug Administration, Johnson & Johnson and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

The move from the U.S. regulators comes less than a week after Europe's drug regulator said it was reviewing rare blood clots in four people in the United States who received th shot.'

Manufactured identical technology to the AZ so no surprises there . Just slower out of the starting blocks as did not have the massive U.K. funding behind it unlike the AZ ( Oxford ) .....but they have finally arrived at the same point .
They will crunch the numbers into a risk benefit analysis and end up carrying on .The delay s unhelpful more unhelpful for them .

Speaking of number crunching take the contraceptive pill .A similar or even greater risk of a vascular incident leading to morbidity is proven .How ever child berth in its self has a risk of morbidity ie mother’s left worse off permanently or dead .

So women are damned if do or damned if they don’t. Arguably pregnancy is hugely more risky .

Its the same with vaccines , just a risk weighing up exercise .
Always was , always will be “ nothing to see here move along folks “
It just been slapped into the public domain .

Absolutely disgraceful (on behalf of Macron)
Nothing to do with the blood clot scare.
I do understand the scare but if faced with a VERY minor risk of a blood clot or catching Covid, I know I would opt for the vaccine.
The ACTUAL issue is the cost.
Big Pharma stands to lose billions over the companies like Astra Zenica who are supplying their vaccines at a fraction of the price of the big boys.
Just think about it.
The difference in money that is being taken MUST be a HUGE driving force.
IMO this whole "blood clot" issue is to discredit the cheap vaccines.
Either Macron has been "played" or is in Big Pharma's pocket.
But in either cases, he has been "playing" with French lives.
@Deleted User - sorry you don't think much of Boris - but, IMO, he has got it right in this vaccine matter.

That, and we are not even in France!
Our local vaccination centre is a couple of towns to the east of us in the Limburg region of Belgium.
My youngest son is away from home just now helping build a new manufacturing plant to produce more vaccine, he won't be finished until about June sometime.
This restriction on our movement is quite tiresome, and with the curfew at midnight makes it a pain.
For ourselves Brexit did not help as now I cannot leave Belgium until my residency is sorted, if I could have returned to the UK I would have been vaccinated a month or so ago, meanwhile the computer system that controls who gets the vaccination in our region has failed and they are trying to fix it.

Just read they have fixed it but tomorrow's jabs are still affected.

Here the death toll is still well under the 5 year average, people are not out and about as much as they used to be but we do try and have as normal a life as much as possible.

Well that’s your problem isn’t it! Only one of your sons is working on it. Tell the others to pull their finger out?
