Med boaters - will you get to your boat this year?

Guys there‘s no such thing as a straight line in biology .It’s all bell shaped curves .
Its all a probability of known certainty with a sprinkling of unknowns. In other words “depends “

Take 2+2 = 4 .
What was 2+2 in Caesar’s day ?
Fast fwd 2000 yrs what’s 2+2 again ?
Whats gonna be 2+2 say in another 2000 yrs ?

Biology does not work like that it evolves .
Take longevity, take ave height , take onset of puberty , and so on .See diff answers as time moves on .

The curves skew about and flatten .
The L skew could be female hight the R skew male height .
Or compare EU tallness to Asian , or within the EU , Dutch to say Italians .

A bell curves can be skewed negatively or positively

So with incubation period you always get “tails “ .
Using incubation it’s the RHS tails that if let out , out of quarantine will spread it .
Therefore my comment on a 2 day PCR test to release being rubbish science stands .If omicron is more contagious then those rhs tails are gonna be more effective in keeping it going through a population.

It does not matter so much where the peak incubation is , which way you ( Pete skews it to the LHS - shortening ) if the RHS tails get out AND are vastly more contagious.

This also explains the rationale behind binning the U.K. red list = pointless unless you quarantine the rhs tails.
Not sure I understood any of that. I always thought best keep it simple. Given the track record of our genius SAGE forecasters I will get really really nervous when they tell us it is safe to leave the bunkers they are trying to incarcerate us in.

It looks like our eminent SAGE group have shat all over the science from South Africa as it doesn't suit their narrative.

If you test more you find more .UKs doing that compared to Eu .
Crucially if a greater % of pop is correctly vaxed up then your health care systems will cope .
Correctly vaccinated i include the timing and the booster .
A double vaxed French man 2 weeks apart from say February is now a sitting duck .

A shed load of Dutch / German refuseniks out protesting rioting on the streets every WE are also sitting ducks .

Uk has the highest % of “ correctly “ vaxed up , lowest % of refuseniks .

Eu it the other way round ,There hospital admissions are zooming up .
Uks rising slightly , winter seasonal pressure on respiratory disease .

Sure millions will get Omicron in the U.K. but only a few will be hospitalisations will occur well with the uk. capacity .
Rest will have few days mild flue like symptoms at home because of the correct vaccination regime.

Also cynically you could put forwards a distasteful argument that the weak and feeble ….sorry should use the new woke word “vulnerable “have been wipe out earlier in the previous waves they were un vaxed then .

Empuriabrava today
I‘m on a residence facebook site and get these sort of pictures every day. Nice but kind of adds to the frustration.
Good to see the boat still there.

The berth behind you Y401 if I remember correctly, we should have brought in 2015, if it wasn't, for a time waster selling another berth
Y402 is the one immediately behind my boat - the Oyster sailing boat with the tent over its boom.
That berth was sold again this year.
Y401 that has the Phantom on it, now belongs to Timbad on this forum.

Big changes in SCM going on at the moment.
The marina bar/club has changed franchisee and they have done a lot of refurbishments.
I have yet to get out there to see what they have done.
Here are some pics that were taken recently just as it reopened.

Looks very good but then it was when we visited, we spent four days there, very friendly Marina, Y401 was offered to us after we got home, think the couple lived in torquay who owned it then, unfortunately we had already committed to a two year deal back at our original marina ,having been messed about with one of the 20m berths at SCM

You are correct
Y401 was owned by a couple of friends of ours in Torquay.
But, yes, IMO, SCM is a very friendly place.
Interestingly, everyone mixes - yachties and motor boaters always going out to restaurants and parties together.

This is a video from a raft party in the lagoon during October this year.
As you can see - motor boats and sailing yachts together.
SCM is a really friendly place for all.

Just got a Christmas present from our dog?? while playing on the beach he rolled in a dead fish?. He’s been shampooed three times and he and the house still stink!
So if you haven’t had any seasonal greetings yet, allow me to wish all my fellow forumites a Joyous and Merry Christmas and a Happy Boaty New Year??⛄❄️?????

Empuriabrava this morning.
Not done by me unfortunately, but I thought it looked amazing. (bit Turneresque?)
I get these almost every day so I won‘t put up any more but this one was particularly good…..and the boat’s still there!

Sorry, my router has packed up again or I would have shown you what it was like in SCM.
I can't wait to get out there and replace the router - maybe I would get some sunshine as well.
John100156 sent me an email today though from SC - weather lovely - a kind of "wish you were here" email.

Weather is very good out here at the moment, short sleeve shirt sun and blue sky.

Some shots just taken:

Thanks John for resetting my router.
It seems to last a few days.
I've bought a new Teltonica RUT950 that will replace the domestic one when I next get out there.

But, as you say, lovely weather out there right now.

Thanks again

Beautiful day here today, warm and sunny. Not so great on the water but the kite surfers seemed to be in their element. Wonderful for dog walking on the beach…
