Med boaters - will you get to your boat this year?

That's a chef's idea of irony. Deconstructing a classic dish and making you put the bugger back together again.

Then making you pay through the nose.

Well on 4th attempt I’ve made it
Attempt 1 Horrid weather on the way and forecast horrid for a week …turned around
Attempt 2 Wife ill on the way ….turned around
Attempt 3 Hit a freak hail storm in France wrecked the screen, headlamps and dents in most car panels….turned around (a headlamp for a VW Tiguan is £1100 )
Attempt 4 see below

Just spent four nights in the port which is always amusing with the antics of the assorted nationalities visiting.
I figured someone has to support the island economy whilst you are landlocked ?

Let's hope you're back soon ??
I miss the place...and now I suspect no one there remember’s what my ‘regular’ is?

Thought I recognised that place.
Isn't that right beside that really "nasty" pinnacle rock?
Probably only a hundred yards or so from that pic.
Am I correct?
You could have a REALLY bad day if you hit it!!

Indeed yes you are correct.
The pinnacle rock now has a cardinal bouy on it. A few decades too late for many unsuspecting boaters.
The popular bays are all buoyed now with no anchoring allowed which makes for a very uncluttered location. You book on line or just turn up which is OK this week but when 5000 Europeans turn up with their boats in a couple of weeks it will be manic. (I’ll be gone! back in September)

Another day another bay
It’s very quiet
The problem here is that people will book a bouy for a week and just turn up a couple of times.

Working your way round the headland then.
That looks like the next bay round.
I know this is "your patch" but maybe you will get to here if you keep going.
Get there early though - there are, literally, hundreds of boars going out for the day from Empuriabrava.

That was 2016 - doesn't time fly - sorry for the poor quality video - my cameras/drone were a bit basic in comparison with modern kit.

That’s a great video and your cala locational accuracy is spot on.
In a couple of weeks the sea will be really choppy but its only the hordes of Empuriabravians charging out to the nearest bay. (If they only went another 20 mins it’s can be relatively quiet)

We’ve booked a buoy in Cabrera from 6pm tomorrow. It’s our first long(ish) trip as we’ve been popping into calas near Portals. Any tips or advice? Do you think if we left early we’d get a day buoy or is it better to arrive at 6pm and be guaranteed a buoy? Is it better to stop somewhere on the way there or back?

Were booked in there on Monday night.

If you get there before 10am you should be able to pick up a day buoy.

Es trenc, whilst not quite on the way,is not far out of the way and is worth a visit.

Also when at Cabrera ,take the tender and find the blue cave (look on the charts) it's not too far from the entrance to the main anchorage.

The main anchorage has a nice little bar which is worth a visit for a drink or two.
