MDL cruise to St Malo tomorrow.

Just downloaded the GRIB forecast for the weekend and the winds are expected to drop to reasonable levels - trouble is that there's plenty of sea state rolling in from the western approaches...

Hopefully your weather will be nicer than we have it here in the Clyde Area today, 70mph damaging winds. Glad not to be on the boat for once..

You could well be right! The forecast is for the winds to moderate significantly by tomorrow evening, but it will take a lot longer for that sea state to moderate! :-(

Just checked Marinetraffic.com
Pont Aven was in Biscay last night
She is at Ushant as I type this post
Still on time to meet us all at Portsmouth this evening
I wonder if they will tell us their experience of the sea state today!!!
Hope to see all those going in the bar tonight then!!!

Hi Mike
I'm sure it will be a smooth ride for you all. Just like that trip we took down to Yarmouth a few years ago. Which reminds me we are doing it again this weekend. Saturday forecast for the solent is F2/3 Westerley. Lovely. :D:D

As a follow-up, we had perfect weather and everyone I spoke to seemed to have a great time! Very little wind both ways and the sea was pretty much flat. I woke briefly about 4am Saturday and it was just about possible to feel a slight swell. On the return journey it would have been difficult to guess it we were at sea or still tied up in the harbour - glad we didn't chicken out!
