I'm putting my MD7A back together again after some basic checking and corrosion repairs. The engine may well last a few more seasons but it is getting increasingly difficult to fix issues developing with the cooling system and the oil blowback through the air filter signifies rings etc..

I am currently testing the water for a new engine. Here in Aus the Volvo 2020 is now priced at about $12,000 (4,800 sterling +-). This seems to me to be quite an increase on prices a year or so ago. Another option is a NanniDiesel 14HP costing just over $8,000 (3,200 sterling).

The Nanni is a marinised Kuboto engine and weighs in at 92kgs, considerably lighter than the MD7a and the 2020.

Can anyone recommend alternatives and any feedback on the Nanni.

It has to drive a 25ft motorsailor (60/40 motor).

Regards
TonyM

Hi Tony

The Vegas have replaced nearly eighty (80) MD6A and MD7A with the Beta BZ482. This is also a Kubota based engine and probablly the best selling replacement engine in the UK. Easy to get spares worldwide. Price is very good. Email me and I will give you some more details:
