MCA to go under E.U control???

Under proposals being discussed by the E.U it is envisaged that OUR coastguard come under their control, I could see some benefit of this on the south coast,but i think it would be a disaster if the whole of the MCA were to be integrated into the E.U what do you all think the pro's and con's would be ??

I bet one of the first things they'll do is standardise training and licensing requirements across EU.

Why should OUR coastguard come under EU control - what's wrong with the way it works now? I've no objection to a common TRADING market, but why should anything British come under EU control?
