Mayflower is amazing and there is plenty of places to explore, both on the Devon side and also the Cornish side of the Tamar. You will need to book in advance as they are often full, especially if there is an event on in Plymouth. If you do decide to book ring and ask for Mike Knowles

Tides can be exciting running across the pontoons. A bit bouncy in strong W winds. Nice place.

We spent a week there a few years back and would certainly go back. The tide certainly does make berthing tricky, but call the office and they'll happily send someone down to help. Notice all the tyres used as snubbers when you berth - it does get bouncy in rough weather. Great onsite facilities including showers and a restaurant.
Walk north from the marina into Mount Wise park and beyond that to Devonport park. Plenty of space to walk or annoy pedestrians with a bike.... Walk round the back of Princess Yachts and get the Cremyll Ferry over to Mount Edgecumbe Park. Great pub at the ferry landing and plenty to explore. From there, walk round the coast path to Kingsand and Cawsand. Finally, Royal William Yard is well worth a visit and from there, walk around the headline for views south down the Sound. Enjoy!

Nice marina, but quite a way out of Plymouth town centre, and it’s not a nice walk. Very handy if you want to visit Princess Yachts. There are other marinas in better locations in Plymouth.

Paul, we have moored at Mayflower for 10 years and there is a reason it‘s won numerous gold anchor awards. Most of the marinas have swells when the wind blows. but as above, if you use the tyres it does help. Taxi into the city is £5 and regular buses just up the road. Lidl and Aldi 10 minute walk.
The other marinas in Plymouth are:
Kings Point - in Mill bay very close to the Brittany ferry.
Sutton Harbour - in the Barbican and surrounded by bars and restaurants at night and is popular with tourists during the day
Queen Anne’s Battery - across the pedestrian bridge from the Barbican.
Plymouth Yacht Haven - across the other side of the sound. on site restaurant and some nice walks around Jenny cliffs.

We used Queen Ann’s Battery last summer. Short stroll to broad choice of pubs and eateries.

One big plus of Mayflower Marina is that you can get both petrol and diesel there 24 hours a day. All the staff are so helpful and the price not bad. Went to get petrol from Queen Anne at 10am, they said that we had to make an appointment and the first available slot was at 3.30pm

We stayed in Sutton Harbour when visiting a few years ago. I liked the ability to me able to walk into town and it’s a peaceful berth being accessed via the lock.
